Crashing Tide build: Sustained tide bruiser
A practical Crashing Tide build framework: role, turn planning, equipment priorities, perk choices and common mistakes.

What is this build trying to do?
Choose a focused set of tides that strengthens your most common actions. Add reliable movement before selecting another setup card. When possible, establish the engine near the fight rather than several turns behind it.
This is a role-based strategy framework. It does not claim to be a verified level-by-level digital card, equipment or perk list. Check the current digital card text before making an irreversible selection.
How do you set up a repeatable turn?
- Select a limited tide package that rewards the actions you expect to repeat.
- Build the engine close enough to contribute to the current fight.
- Keep water and movement choices compatible with allies crossing the same area.
Look for a sustainable engagement where your setup can pay off over several rounds. Coordinate the front line so you are not repeatedly forced to abandon the space your engine supports. Treat water placement as a team movement decision.
Which cards should you prioritize?
Choose a limited set of tides that benefits the actions you repeat most often. Add movement and water manipulation rather than stacking every persistent effect. Rising Flood is digital-confirmed to relocate water, while Low Tide and Endless Cycle appear in tide-related fixes. Inspect these as an engine-and-recovery package; Drown beneath the Waves is a separately confirmed candidate whose elemental option must fit your supply.
Compare a candidate card against the job your current hand cannot accomplish: reaching a useful hex, making the primary attack legal, surviving the next enemy action or recovering a disrupted turn. Avoid upgrading a number while losing the only action that keeps the sequence reliable. Exact level selections remain subject to digital Codex verification.
How should equipment and perks support the plan?
Equip for the number of attacks you expect to receive while the tide engine is active. Movement equipment can keep an established engine relevant between rooms. Check whether water created by your character interacts with the current scenario’s special rules instead of assuming every water tile behaves identically.
Waterjet and Resilient Shell are named in digital patch notes. Compare their current effects against the actual frequency of your attacks and incoming damage. Choose a compact defensive or modifier improvement that supports the selected tide package rather than upgrading every possible role.
What should you change when the plan fails?
Water created by Coral can receive scenario-specific treatment. Official notes correct such an interaction in Rising Brine. Read the current special rules before using self-created water as though it were a universal protection against scenario damage.
Identify whether the failure was positioning, timing, a resource shortage or a party mismatch before replacing the entire hand. Record a change and test it over another expedition rather than changing several decisions at once.
Which references help with this build?
Start with the Crashing Tide class reference, use party composition to assign allies’ roles, and revisit card economy when the party exhausts before completing its objective.
Evidence boundary: Digital alias, broad playstyle and campaign availability confirmed by official Into the Abyss announcement. Exact card text, numeric values and unlock prerequisites still require digital Codex verification.
